What we collect

Your email address, and a name if you gave one at sign-up. The groups and stokvels you create — titles, amounts, and the names of the people in them. Nothing more than that.

What we don't collect

Payers you invite never create an account and never give us their information beyond what you, the organiser, type in — their name and, if you choose, a WhatsApp number to send a link to. We never see or store card or bank details — those go straight to our payment provider (PayFast), never through us.

Why we collect it

Solely to run the app: to know which groups and stokvels are yours, to track who's paid, and to let a payer's link show their own amount. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it to anyone, ever.

Who can see what

You see full detail — names and amounts — for groups and stokvels you organise. A payer, via their own link, sees only their own amount. Nobody outside your own groups can see your data, and we never share it with other users.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Delete a group or stokvel and its records are removed. Delete your account (contact us to request this) and everything tied to it is removed too.

Your rights

Under South Africa's POPIA, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us (see below) and we'll act on it.

The R10 service fee

Once a group is fully settled, a small service fee may apply for using the app's tracking and reminders — charged separately from, and never taken out of, the money your group members send each other. That money moves directly between you and them; it never touches this app or our accounts.

No guarantee, just a tool

Hlukanisa helps you track and remind — it doesn't guarantee anyone pays, and it isn't a financial institution, escrow service, or debt collector. Disputes between group members are between them; the app can only show the record of what was agreed.
